murakami/Nelson was part of a team of landscape architects, engineers, environmental consultants, architects and urban planners formed to provide a feasibility analysis, property appraisals, engineering and environmental review and schematic designs for a stretch of nine miles of estuary waterfront for the City of Oakland. The team was charged with planning a continuous uninterrupted Bay Trail Promenade from Jack London Square to the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline on Oakland’s waterfront. murakami/Nelson focused its efforts on providing design concepts for trail access at or under the various bridges connecting Oakland to Alameda as well as local context and design input for the overall trail concept.
